BIOGRAPHY

Henry Fernandez is a Saxophonist and Composer from Upstate New York. Henry began playing the alto saxophone at the age of 8. After being inspired by the music of Dexter Gordon, John Coltrane, Michael Brecker and Sonny Rollins, Henry changed his main horn to the tenor saxophone in high school and began playing professionally during his senior year. Henry currently attends Oberlin College and Conservatory where he is pursuing a BA in Jazz Studies and a BA in the Liberal Arts. At Oberlin, Henry studies under the tutelage of Master Saxophonist Gary Bartz. While he is not at Oberlin, Henry is an active performer in the Capital Region of New York State, playing at such venues as the Daily Grind and the Madison Pour House. His musical accomplishments include a performance at the Newport Jazz Festival in 2016 with the Berklee Global Jazz Workshop.
